I grew up loving to draw and also tracing things on to paper. In college, I took an introductory GIS class, and I loved it. For me, it was like drawing on the computer, and it also meant something in the real world.
After that class, I wanted to learn more advanced GIS analysis. However, there were no advanced courses available. To develop my GIS skills, I took a course where I could choose a topic to learn more about for the semester. In my case, I chose GIS. I focused on learning different kinds of analysis, including terrain, hydrological and line of site analysis. Even though there was a lot of work, I enjoyed the class very much.
I am now eager and excited to begin a career in GIS and use it to solve real world problems.
