I have enjoyed writing and sharing stories since I was in 1st grade and, all through school, I was lucky to have many teachers who supported my interest in storytelling. I began learning to draw at around age 9 and my interest in art grew as it was another tool for communicating stories and ideas. After learning in history that humans have used pictures to tell stories for thousands of years, I became fascinated with a particularly effective way of telling stories using pictures and words: comic books!
I learned from every art teacher and art book I could, took classes at the local Art Center in Hanford, and most importantly I drew and wrote stories constantly. In 2015, I assembled a group of local artists and started the Valley Illustrators art group, a group that, to this day, meets weekly at DJ's Collectable Shoppe in Hanford, CA and has amassed over 35 members over the years. I attended College of the Sequoias and CSU Fresno, taking every graphic design class and learning digital art along the way (a huge advantage for production and learning speed)!
In 2021, I wrote a poem and decided to turn it into a fully illustrated book which I finally published in 2024! Since 2018, I have worked with independent film companies, taking on every role from Sound Technician to Assistant Director to Creative Producer, all of which accompanied my goal of growing as a storyteller. The biggest lesson is learning how to keep going, never getting stuck on one problem or challenge, until you finish your work; the point is never really about having the most perfect story, picture, or outcome, it's about learning to become more refined in your passion than you were when you first began!
