Rachel Wolz is a saxophonist from Channahon, Illinois. She is a recipient of the Eugene V. Cota-Robles Fellowship and an active participant in the Gluck Fellow Program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Saxophone Performance and Music Composition from Illinois State University and Master’s degrees in Saxophone Performance and Music Theory from the University of Oklahoma. As a performer, Rachel has toured Illinois as a member of the Funk Sauce Brass Band, based in Peoria, Illinois. She received Honorable Mention in UCLA’s Atwater Kent Concerto Competition in 2023.
She received Honorable Mention in the 2021 Elise Hall Competition for Emerging Saxophonists, a competition that encourages artistic growth and development for female-identifying, trans, and non-binary musicians. Outside of music, Rachel coordinated a summer day camp for kids at Mulberry School in Normal, Illinois for three summers, where she also taught general music for the 2019-2019 school year. She is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance at UCLA.
