I’m Ramon Peña, an ASE-certified automotive technician with over seven years of hands-on experience in diagnostics and repair. My career began with practical, under-the-hood work that helped me build a strong mechanical foundation. Wanting to expand my knowledge, I pursued a degree in automotive technology, where I focused on advanced electrical systems and engine management.
Over the years, I’ve worked on a wide range of vehicles—both domestic and European—using OEM diagnostic tools and software to deliver accurate, first-time diagnoses and high-quality repairs. Whether I’m working independently or alongside a team, I remain committed to learning, improving, and tackling each challenge with care and precision.
I began my automotive career at my father’s self-run repair shop, where I gained hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems from an early age. That foundation inspired me to pursue formal education in automotive technology, where I specialized in advanced diagnostics and engine management systems.
Now with over seven years in the field, I’m an ASE-certified technician with a strong focus on electrical diagnostics and module programming. I operate R Peña’s Automotive Specialist, a registered mobile diagnostic business. I’m frequently contracted by independent shops and private customers to troubleshoot complex drivability issues, electrical faults, and communication problems—often cases that others have struggled to resolve.
My diagnostic approach goes beyond code readers. I rely on advanced tools such as oscilloscopes, CAN bus analyzers, digital multimeters, and OEM software (including GDS2, IDS, ODIS, Tech2Win, and others) to identify root causes efficiently and accurately.
Professionally, I’ve served as a Master Technician at Pep Boys, responsible for full-system repairs and high-level diagnostics, and as a Main Line Technician at Audi. I’m often called on by local shops and individual clients to troubleshoot complex electrical issues that others have difficulty resolving.
Whether in a shop or out in the field, I stay committed to solving problems right the first time
I completed an Automotive Technology Certificate program totaling 38 credit hours, which included comprehensive training across all major automotive systems. The coursework covered electrical systems, brakes, suspension and steering, engine repair and performance, transmissions, drivetrains, and climate control systems. I also completed a hands-on practicum to apply this knowledge in real-world vehicle diagnostics and repairs.
In addition to my formal education, I hold six ASE certifications and the EPA 609 certificate, demonstrating my expertise and commitment to industry standards. This broad and thorough training enables me to diagnose and repair a wide range of automotive issues effectively.
