I am 72 years old and retired recently after 48 years with an electric energy company. The last 10 years I worked remotely and made the decision to retire when we (Columbus employees only) were required to return to office 5 days a week.
The first 20 years of my 48 years continuous employment were in administrative positions in Human Resources, Accounting and Technical Services in an Electric Power Plant. The last 28 years of my 48 years of continuous employment were in IT and Cyber Security. 25 of those years I've been in Identity and Access Management, approximately 2 years were in IT Auditing (NERC and FERC compliance), and about 9 months were on the Cyber Security Incident Response Desk.
The last 5 years I was a significant initiator and contributor to the automation of many manual processes that we were doing in employee onboarding, identity management, access provisioning/de-provisioning, and NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) compliance over the last 28 years. The company's automated IGA tool ((Identity Governance and Administration) for the last 15 years was Oracle Identity Manager and just prior to my retirement that IGA tool was scheduled to migrate to Saviynt by end of year. I was very much involved in and looking forward to that migration but felt 'returning to office 5 days a week' would be counterproductive.
Also, while employed, I was heavily involved in promoting and deploying enterprise-wide use of CyberArk to manage service account and elevated personal account passwords, and ServiceNow (soon migrating to Saviynt) for documenting the attributes associated with each of those thousands of service and elevated personal accounts. I held a team Lead position in the final year of my employment in Identity & Access Management. We managed identities and access for 25,000 employees and contractors.
