In accordance with assigned responsibility from the C-Suite, I work as an onsite/remote Interim Director/Manager/Consultant within the Quality, Compliance, Risk, Privacy, Clinical Improvement, Health Information Management, Medical Staff Department/Office, Utilization Review, and/or Case Management fields. Federal and State and regional laws vary as to the regulations required to manage each of these areas of expertise. My job is to discover and design a Plan process to assure that the applicable laws are literally applied to the affected professional discipline for which I am hired to manage.
I educate and impart this information to the leadership and members of management and clinicians, along with the staff that I manage. My authority comes directly from the C-Suite who empowers me and to make my work effective with their facility members. After performing a gap analysis of the work process and final product in each department, I utilize Hugh Greeley's and W.
Deming's Quality principles and approaches to arrive at a personalized Action Plan for each client. I take this Plan to the leadership for approval prior to the start of implementation. I do not know everything. I learn everyday in each facility that I serve which I apply in creation of The Plan. I have alot of fun! And, I attempt to spread the thrill of discovery, education, and ultimate improvement to each member of the facility's team.
Having been personally cognizant of a strong moral code and being in the right place at the right time, I had the advantage of an early career experience to observe the value of a organization's decision to apply the “best quality of care within available resources” standard for each patient, through organizations designed to render patient care (academic research, hospitals, post-acute care) with the inclusion of the medical staff dynamic, with the impact of third party financial reimbursement to ultimately assure the preparation of the legal medical record.
I have personally assured the proper credentials of medical staff members to have the authority to evaluate and treat a patient. I have led the Pre-Joint Commission survey team with regard to quality and risk, writing the reports rendered to the hospital leadership (17). I have professionally been present to assist surveyors during DNV, Joint Commission, and Medicare State surveys.
I have written reports of the same, including writing responses to survey deficiencies when facility closures were imminent.
Experiential education led to return for Bachelor of Business Administration to learn the basics of business documentation and management, financial investments.
