Rick has a diverse professional experience that spans across different industries. As the Data Center Area Manager for Amazon AWS in Boardman, Oregon, he led a team of 80 engineering technicians and Facility Managers to manage the critical infrastructure of 10 data centers. He also managed operations budget, collaborated with security managers, and coordinated with third-party vendors.
As the Founder and President of Amparo, a non-profit dedicated to ending the exploitation and trafficking of girls in Bolivia, he pushed through multiple regulatory roadblocks to open the first children’s home in Bolivia, trained and empowered local staff, and enrolled 100 girls in school. In his role as the General and Electrical Contractor at Kasco Communications in Vancouver, Washington, he managed customer liaison duties for cell tower construction, streamlined processes and practices, and engineered primary and backup electrical systems for hundreds of cell towers. As the Electrical Project Manager for WesTower Communications in Tualatin, Oregon, he managed the Pacific Northwest region's entire electrical division, launched and developed the electrical division for the construction company, and collaborated directly with wireless carrier liaisons.
I have been in the electrical industry since 1992 and although I don't have a formal degree, I have gained a wealth of knowledge through my experience and qualifications. I completed the electrical apprenticeship and Journeyman requirements for the state of Oregon, which enabled me to become an Electrical Supervisor in 2004. I also have experience in business management, having owned and operated electrical and construction companies.
Through this, I have developed strong skills in people management and have become a successful people manager.
