My name is Ryder Lathrop and I am an undergraduate student at Colgate University. I am currently in my third year as a biochemistry major and will be continuing my major at Colgate in the fall and will be participating in two semesters of senior chemistry research as I finish my degree as well.
I have worked extensively as an assistant to the sports medicine staff of the football team at Colgate University since 2021. My work entails, taping of athletes, field preparation, assessment of injury, emergency care and procedures, rehabilitation techniques and attendance at practices and games. I have also accompanied injured athletes to hospitals and doctor's appointments as well as preparing and operating therapy modalities for the athletes.
In 2020 I earned my NREMT EMT-B certification and am also licensed as an EMT in Pennsylvania and starting in May of 2022 I worked as a part-time EMT for Greater Valley EMS. As an EMT I was tasked with administering first-aid treatment and life-support care to sick or injured persons in the prehospital setting. In this profession I responded to emergency calls in an efficient manner to provide immediate care to the critically ill and injured, cleaned and restocked my truck at the end of a shift, maintained and stocked medical supplies, oxygen tanks and medical equipment on ambulances prior to going into service.
