A strong quality of mine is that I care for the working employee's wellbeing. As a Safety and Health Professional, I want everyone to be able to execute their job task safely. Another focus of mine is the preservation of the environment and the favorable progression of the industry or company.

Safety Training Specialist Temporary Position - Port of Corpus Christi - Corpus Christi, Texas

This position involved great administrative tasks for all Port Employees, such as training intake, record keeping, and reports. Coordination and relationship management with 3rd party companies is a huge aspect of this job. I prepared and delivered Monthly Safety Meetings for all field workers.
A lot of research is involved in helping support the number one Port value which is Safety. Assistance with administrative support for Safety Manager was involved. Additionally, employee relations are required of the Safety department which can include incidents, near miss or regarding training recommendations.
One of my duties was PPE inventory. I also ordered, distributed and maintained PPE integrity. Utilization of platforms such as Docuware, Concur, JD Edwards, KPA, NEOGOV, and Samsara. These platforms help track where money was being used, how training is being tracked and Samsara helped with tracking driving violations and accidents.
Substitute Teacher and Paraprofessional - CCISD - Corpus Christi, Texas

Worked with PreK- 5th Grade students as a Substitute teacher or Paraprofessional. I had the opportunity to help guide students with their goals. with their curriculum. This type of assistance helps teachers hit their curriculum levels for their students.
I worked with students that have challenges in life that may need extra help. The students have a structured and detailed schedule that must be followed. Even though this position was short-lived it gave me the platform to publicly speak with such a young audience.
Fall Internship - Port of Corpus Christi - Corpus Christi, Texas

Participated in the NaviG8 internship program. I observed and was involved in safety programs and requirements. Internship duties included facility audits which followed up with action items such as repairs, housekeeping, designated signage and assistance with emergency and fire building standards.
Another aspect of the internship was indoor and outdoor observations, which entailed verifying JSA's, SOP and proper PPE worn using KPA software. Conversing with field employees creates trust and a platform to educate. Lastly, I was able to participate in creating Incident Prevention Insight flyers, which is safety education that reaches all Port employees via email.
Utility Technician I - City of Corpus Christi - Corpus Christi, Texas

Responsibilities at the Wastewater plant is to maintain and operate the plant in an efficient manner. My team and I cleaned and maintained clarifiers, bar screens and other significant aspects of the plant.
Commission of Environmental Quality regulates our wastewater permit which allows us to operate and discharge into the Texas waters. This means that we must go by standards that are given to us accordingly. Conducting laboratory operations helps us understand how well the plant is running.
It gives us an idea where adjustments may be needed such as Chlorine, Bisulfite or the aeration basins. Following safety procedures and protocol helps keep our team in good health. As of February of 2025, I was given the opportunity to be apart of the vactor crew.
This department is pertinent to plant maintenance and emergency spill response.
Surgery Counselor - Texas Eye Care - Corpus Christi, Texas

Patients come into Texas Eye Care to review the health of their eyes or for eye emergencies. As a surgery counselor we consulted with the patient about what surgical services the doctor is recommending regarding their current conditions. We go over the financial portion that is due on their end and what is to be expected from this surgery.
Once paperwork is done, we create surgery orders for the surgery center. Any miscellaneous errors, questions or changes that occur, we must attend to the matter as soon as possible via email, phone, or fax services. Paying attention to details is important.
The smallest errors can cause greater problems in the future. Of course, the patient is priority, we must keep in contact with the patients and help them along the course of the journey. The surgery order consisted of CPT codes, patient demographics, and specifics about the type of anesthesia that will be used.
COVID Screener - Harbor Parking - Corpus Christi, Texas

During this uncertain time, I found myself with Harbor Parking, the job was to keep only allowed people in the hospital and guide those who were lost or unaware of the visitors' requirements. This position entailed the following, temperature checks, and various questions that indicate if someone has been in contact with anyone that may have had COVID recently. Keeping accurate logging of visitors entering and exiting the hospital.
I communicated with nurses about possible emergencies that may need to be seen immediately. I helped patients with the check-in kiosk machine. As each person used the necessary kiosk, phones, and chairs, I would sanitize each item to ensure the health of others.
Intake Coordinator - Baylor Scott and White - Temple, Texas

As Intake Coordinator with the Health Services department, we organized and determined if prior authorization is needed for certain CPT codes. We would get the necessary documentation for the Utilization Management nurses to approve or disapprove services. I utilized fax services, and phones.
Insurance Coordinator - First Eye Care - Killeen, Texas

As Insurance Coordinator I would verify the patient's medical eligibility and vision benefits. This process consisted of calling the insurance and giving certain CPT codes that may be conducted in the office visit if it was a medical concern. Each CPT code was either covered under a copay or a deductible.
If it was under a deductible, then each CPT code had an allowable amount that was required of the patient to pay and applied towards the deductible. Explaining how the patient's plan works was very important to have trust between the patient and our doctors. Scheduling patients onto the scheduler accordingly was also required for follow ups or any concerns that the patient may have.
My manager also assigned me to balance the clinic's daily money. This entailed cash, checks and debit or credit card recordkeeping. Faxing, mailing, emailing was another aspect of the job. It was our job to keep in contact with any other specialist that the patient may need to see.
This allowed us to communicate about important information such insurance, demographics, clinical notes, or referrals. Part of my position was also to keep up with referrals since our doctors were therapeutic optometrists. T
Insurance Coordinator - Freedom Urgent Care - Harker Heights, Texas

As an Insurance Coordinator, I verified insurance and scheduled patients. This position consisted of reviewing referrals if it was military associated. Referrals again, are very specific and you must pay attention to detail if not then a claim may be denied.
I also gained experience with workmen's comp patients which consisted of a variety of visits. I also collected any payments due at the time of service. I too would help with daily money balancing. In addition to this I oversaw OSHA education for the clinic staff.
This included emailing staff of upcoming educational videos that were required as a healthcare facility. We also offered CPR recertification for the staff that year. During my time at Freedom Urgent Care, I helped the clinic pass their yearly Fire and Health Inspection.
This included me reviewing last year's inspection form and doing the best I could with the bit of knowledge I had at the time.
