Sarah Weyl

I am a 2023 law graduate, with a Graduate Certificate in Health Law and Policy. My legal experience includes interning with Indiana University Health's revenue cycling services and the hospital ethics committee, where I researched and interpreted healthcare laws such as HIPAA and EMTALA, in addition to health insurance programs, such as Medicare. I provided guidance to physicians on complex legal and ethical issues, advocating for the patient's best interests in critical medical situations.

I am eager to apply my knowledge and my skills in a dynamic legal setting, contributing to a firm’s success through meticulous legal research, analytical problem-solving, a willingness to take initiative, and a deep commitment to client advocacy and achieving favorable results.

As a recent law graduate with a strong foundation in health law, I bring hands-on experience from multiple legal externships, primarily focused on healthcare compliance, medical ethics, and patient advocacy. I have advised hospital ethics committees on complex legal and ethical issues, including informed consent, capacity, guardianship, and end-of-life care. I have also conducted in-depth regulatory research on HIPAA, EMTALA, Medicare/Medicaid, and abortion law in the post Roe v.

Wade landscape. Additionally, I have represented low-income clients facing eviction, successfully drafting legal filings and negotiating court agreements, such as voluntary vacates. I offer a strong commitment to serving and advocating for individuals, and I am prepared to contribute meaningfully to legal teams.

I earned my Juris Doctor (J.D.) with a concentration in Health Law and Policy from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in May 2023. During law school, I was actively involved in the Health Law Society and the Women's Caucus, reflecting my commitment to advocacy within the legal community.
