I have a background in community development, public health, and family support services, I bring over six years of experience coordinating programs that strengthen families, promote health equity, and support immigrant and underserved communities across Massachusetts.
In my previous role as a Development and Community Engagement Coordinator with the Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC), I established partnerships with community organizations, managed outreach and education programs, and supported families in accessing health and mental health services. My work required consistent monitoring of program performance, maintaining accurate documentation, and aligning services with contractual and quality standards — responsibilities closely aligned with the expectations of this position.
Earlier in my career at Boston Children’s Hospital and with AmeriCorps, I developed a strong foundation in family-centered care, case management, and cultural liaison work. These experiences taught me how to communicate effectively with diverse populations, provide technical assistance to partner programs, and advocate for equitable access to social and health resources. My multilingual abilities in English, Somali, and Swahili further enhance my ability to serve families and collaborate with community partners statewide.
I’m committed to building programs that are data-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in community realities. I am confident that my experience, compassion, and program management skills will allow me to make meaningful contributions.
