Greetings,
My name is Sean Stathas and I am a certified Physical ED Teacher in Florida. Currently, I'm in my 10th year teaching PE and I'm in my 2nd year of being our school's Athletic
Director. I absolutely love what I do and I can't picture myself doing anything else other than teaching PE because I have a tremendous passion for teaching children and I love sports. My first 10 years of teaching have been an absolute blessing and I've learned so much that has made me into the teacher that I am today.
For my first 5 years, I taught Elementary PE and had over 90 students in each class at a time! Needless to say, I had to learn classroom management very quickly and those years created a very solid foundation for the teaching that I do today. Currently, I teach 4th-8th grade and I definitely found my passion in teaching middle school students but I also love teaching elementary because they are at such a critical stage in their lives and I want to be a mentor for these students and prepare them for life beyond school.
My class sizes consist of about 25-30
students and my students are terrific here at Athenian Academy Charter School in Fort Myers,
Florida.
As previously mentioned, I'm also the Athletic Director here at our school. I've been in charge of starting a program from scratch and we have done so well competing against other schools for these first 2 years. I'm so proud of our athletes and coaches and I enjoy being able to watch our students compete.
At this stage in my career, I’m looking for a new challenge and a new group of children that I can impact and help grow. My wife and I have 2 little ones of our own…Shay, who will be 3 in June, and Casey who will be 1 in April. I’m hoping to have them in school with me as they age and so I’m excited to possibly have an opportunity to teach them in the near future.
For the last 10 years, I’ve had the honor of being a PhysicAl Education Teacher. I’ve taught K-5th for my first 7 years and then 4th-8th for my last 3. I absolutely love what I do and have had the privilege of working at Three Oaks Elementary for my first 5 years of teaching and then I am currently working for Athenian Academy Charter School (5 years running).
I am the PE teacher and Athletic Director here at Athenian and my administration and fellow staff are incredible. We have wonderful students and I can’t say enough positive things about our school to do it justice. At this point in my career however, I am looking for a new challenge and a new group of students to “win over” and assist in their growth process.
