As a "Senior Electronics Mechanical Packaging & PCB Designer" I am typically involved with designing both the mechanical chassis/enclosures/housings -- AND -- the PCBs of new electronic devices, equipment and instrumentation. I use the CADENCE/OrCAD "OrCAD X" program or the newer KiCAD PCB programs for designing my PCBs and the SolidWorks Premium 3D CAD-modeling mechanical design program for all of my sheetmetal designs. And, I also have an extensive amount of personal experience working on "100% FULLY-REMOTE" design engineering projects.
A Partial List Of “100% FULLY-REMOTE” Contract Design Engineering Projects Worked On By: Jerry B. Williams
Lockheed-Martin (designed test equipment for their "STINGER Missile Program" on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis. This project involved me creating schematics and a PCB using the CADENCE/OrCAD "PCB Editor Release 17.4" program as well as the SolidWorks Premium program for mechanically designing a 19" rack-mount chassis to house some relays).
Northrop-Grumman (had me designing PCBs capable of carrying 600-Amps of current for a newly-designed "Remote Power Generator" to be used by The U.S. Army in Afghanistan and Iraq on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis using the CADENCE/OrCAD “Layout PLUS” program).
ALLIED Signal / BENDIX (had me designing PCBs up to 12-layers for use within the U.S. Air Force "F-16 Fighter Jets").
The Watkins-Johnson Company (had tasked me with creating a set of wiring diagrams of 4-racks of communications equipment consisting of 24 "D-Size" (22" H x 34" W) sheets that spanned a wall-covering 8' High X 18' Wide for the NSA on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis).
WINDERMERE Information Technology Services (A Maryland-based defense contractor that had me work on a "Department of Homeland Security" contract for -- 2-1/2 YEARS!!! -- involving an entire series of "covert intelligence-gathering, surveillance and/or tracking operations" projects on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis using the original CADENCE/OrCAD "Layout Plus" PCB-design program).
LITTON Industries / AMECOM Division (tasked me with an FAA "Air Traffic Controller" project creating documentation drawings for -- 19" racks -- of electronic equipment and the "PCB Fabrication & Assembly Drawings" on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis).
NASA/White Sands Complex, NM (had tasked me to design PCBs for their "Missile Testing Program" out there in the New Mexico desert on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis using the CADENCE/OrCAD "Layout PLUS" program).
BAE Aerospace Systems -- BAE wanted me to "Reverse-Engineer" their last existing PCB and recreate it using my CAD-design software in order for me to output new and modern CAD-generated fabrication files. Not only that but, since the original PCB was so old and used "Thru-Hole Technology" components, BAE had also wanted me to update the design and convert all of the parts over to new "Surface-Mount Technology" parts that could use modern "Pick & Place" machinery for the PCB assembly process. In the end, not only did I accomplish all of what BAE had requested of me, but I was also able to route my new layout with -- NO VIAS -- which meant that the reliability of the new PCB had just skyrocketed through-the-roof!!!
This PCB is used in U.S. fighter jets and having "no vias" is a really good thing!!! (NOTE: This project was designed on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis using the CADENCE/OrCAD "Layout PLUS" program).
AURORA Flight Sciences – Had hired me as a "Senior PCB Design Consultant" to work on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis here-at-home to design new PCBs for their all-new avionics’ electronics instrumentation using the ALTIUM Designer PCB-design program.
CHESAPEAKE Aerospace Engineering – Hired me to design a "one-off" PCB for a new avionics "pilot safety-related" device that was designed to be used in small personal private aircraft such as those manufactured by Cessna/TEXTRON Aviation () and Piper (https:/). (NOTE: This prototype design project was performed here-at-home on a "100% FULLY-REMOTE" basis using the CADENCE/OrCAD “Layout PLUS” program. I have since purchased my own license of the newer CADENCE/OrCAD "OrCAD X" schematics and PCB-design program.
