Registered Nurse - Trauma Medical ICU - Swedish Medical Center

• Provide high quality, compassionate care for critically ill patients utilizing nursing process, situational awareness, time management, and strong assessment and clinical skills in a 26-bed ICU, trauma level 1.
• Effectively and promptly communicate and collaborate via SBAR with multidisciplinary team members to ensure desired patient outcomes.
• Administer, monitor, and titrate high risk medications such as vasopressors, narcotics, and paralytics.
• Manage the care of one to three critical patients while continuously monitoring vital signs, level of consciousness, patient condition, pain level, and lab trends. Notify attending physician of any clinical changes or critical values.
• Educate patient and families on patients' condition, provide support, and advocate as appropriate.
• Assist provider in bedside procedures such as thoracentesis or chest tube, EVD, CVC or A-line placement.
• Perform all necessary charting and documentation with great attention to detail.
• Set up and monitor life support equipment such as pressure lines, mechanical venilators, cardiac monitors, IV drips, etc.
• Provide mentorship to students and new staff through training and guidance on best nursing practices.

• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs while implementing physician orders.
• Perform comprehensive and focused assessments, administer prescribed medications, monitor vital signs.
