I am a hard-working, recent college graduate (3.66 GPA, A.S. Nursing) from Weimar University. Prior to my academic career, I managed to accrue nearly 23 years of work experience. I had the privilege of working for Comcourse, Inc., in a human resources coordinator role, where I learned valuable professional experiences. I have been consistently praised as quality-oriented by my professors and peers. Whether working on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, I apply proven critical thinking, organizational and teamwork skills, which I hope to leverage into the registered nurse role at your company.
During clinical rotations, I gained extensive hands on skill training, became competent in documentation and hospital communication, and worked incredibly hard to provide the best patient care. I employed evidence-based practice in all my interactions with my patients, adapted nursing care plans, and patient teaching to better address patient needs. I believe understanding that each patient has a unique situation maintains an aspect of constant change within the medical field, and reminds us to be constantly aware of any changes our patient experiences in order to better help them. I understand that cultural competency and understanding are in more demand today, and to be helpful in allowing patients and their families to find the care they feel best fits their needs. Lastly, I know that a significant part of the nursing role is to advocate for our patients, and this means effective communication with other staff, doctors, and specialists in order to fulfill that role.
I spent approximately 9 years working in the corporate world, in sales, finance and then Human Resources. Prior to that, I worked in food service, as a preschool teacher and nanny, and in retail sales. Being an adult learner meant that prior to completing my degree, I had nearly 20 years of experience working; from after school jobs as a barista, to high stress finance positions after getting married. During this time, I consistently thought of, and pursued my nursing degree. My wide array of experience, along with my determination to become a nurse allows me to understand a vast majority of patients I come in contact with, because my life is atypical.
From August 2021-May 2023 I was enrolled at Weimar University, completing my ASN degree. The classes were both didactic and skills, including clinical rotations at Sutter Auburn Faith, Heritage Oaks, Auburn Oaks, Loma Linda Pediatric Hospital, and Adventist Rideout. Our program did not offer a preceptor program, but instead require more than 800 hours of clinical time.
My grades remained high, reflecting the time and consideration I put into my studies. It took me more than a decade to accumulate the necessary pre-requisites needed to apply for nursing school, and once I was in, I felt compelled to maintain a high standard of learning.
At Sierra College, I received four associates degrees and one certificate of achievement, as well as became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. My degree from this school are:
Associates Degree-Biology
Associates Degree-Natural Science
Associates Degree-Allied Health - Pre-Nursing
Associates Degree-Allied Health - General Option
