Legal Secretary, Caseworker & Social Service Aide, Program Support Staff at Pike County Children & Youth Services (2018-12 – Present)
Multi-faceted role encompassing legal, casework, and administrative responsibilities within a children and youth services agency.
- As a social service aide, supervise visits between parents, grandparents, and children. Transport children and/or parents when needed. Assist case workers with anything they may need. Make up the schedules and letters each month for the visits.
- As an In-Home Caseworker, work with families that had services placed in their homes to assist with any issues the family may be facing, whether it would be truancy, anger management, housing, income, or any other issues that we may find resources for.
- As an In-Take Caseworker respond to referrals made to the agency and investigate any of the allegations towards the family. Access safety of the children in the home, have collaterals signed for the children's doctor, dentist, and schools. Have supervision with supervisor weekly and discuss whether the case needs to have in-home services in place or close the case out.
- As Program Support Staff answer telephones and direct to the right staff member, send out collaterals for the clients, scan them, download them, and log them when they are sent out. When reports are received back for the collaterals, log them received, download to system. Annual contracts are sent out and received in office for new fiscal years. Enter all employee training certificates into the system, and responsible to hand out Random Moments to employees and look them over to send into the state.
- As Legal Secretary for the CYS office, responsible for drafting petitions for Dependency Hearings and Appeal cases. Gather all necessary information from caseworkers about the child and family to assure the petitions have all the appropriate and necessary information for court. Draft letters to different courts and attorneys as needed for the appeals cases. Gather any discovery needed from other attorneys or our office may need for themselves.
CNA at Horizon Home Healthcare (2018-09 – 2019-01)
In-home health care assistance for a client with Parkinson's disease.
- Worked in the client's home to assist her with her daily living routine. The woman has Parkinson's disease and needs to be transported to healthcare specialist monthly, personal care needs, meal prep, medications given on a timely manner.
Case Management at RSS (2017-06 – 2018-09)
Case management services focused on helping clients achieve independence and safety.
- As a case manager, assigned a case load of 4-5 clients at a time due to the amount of time that needs to be spent with each client. Assist the client in reaching short term goals and needs. Individualized service plans were done for each client based on the client's needs to live independently in their homes. The main goal was to have the client live independently on their own while being safe and healthy.
Family Support Partner at Access Support for Living (2016-07 – 2017-06)
Family advocacy and support for families of children with mental or emotional challenges through the WRAP program.
- A Family Support Partner is uniquely qualified to advocate, help navigate, educate, support, manage and empower families of children with mental or emotional challenges. Worked side by side with an intensive case worker with families that have children with mental health behaviors through the WRAP program.
- WRAP is a completely different way of responding when children and youth experience mental health or behavioral challenges. WRAP puts the children or youth and the family at the center. The primary goal in the end is to keep the child in the home with safety plan and coping skills rather than to place in a facility.
- Worked with victims of physical and sexual abuse to find the most appropriate resource for that individual.
