I am a Medical Doctor and Board-Certified Pathologist with two fellowships, one in Surgical Pathology and the other in Pediatric Pathology, and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences with concentration in Pathology. My expertise background is in Human and Animal Pathology since I have had training in both. During my 10 years working as Research Pathologist at Georgetown University as part of
Dr. Kitlinska’s team in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology at Georgetown University I participated in the design and development of the research projects of her Laboratory where we established a novel metastatic model in mice for Ewing Sarcoma. The research focus of Dr.
Kitlinska’s Laboratory is the study of the NPY system (Neuropeptide Y and its receptors) in the process of carcinogenesis and development of the tumoral metastasis. I did all my thesis research work at Georgetown University.
My responsibilities in her Laboratory were:
Most of the projects in which I was involved helped me develop scientific reliability, strong written skills and good judgment.
Since July 2022, I started working as Assistant Director at Histopathology & Tissues Shared Resource (HTSR) where I managed the Histopathology group, overseeing non-clinical research including gross tissue processing and paraffin embedding, microtome sectioning and performing quality control of the slides with H&E and special technics staining. I also oversee the quality control of chromogenic IHC and analyze images looking for research of interest areas from multiplex IHC correlating them with the H&E staining.
During my years working at GU as research pathologist I interacted with several Principal Investigators assisting them with planning and executing histology related experiments. Based on my background in human and animal pathology, I have extensive experience in histopathology diagnosis and in the design of animal model in different tumors
As member of a multidisciplinary team, I have outstanding interpersonal skills. This is evidenced by my ability to successfully collaborate on projects with colleagues from different groups of the Department of Pathology at NCI and at Georgetown University. I manage more than one project at the same time, and I am very effective at meeting deadlines, but I also have flexibility to switch priorities, if needed for the development and success of a project.
