Receiving and Material Processing Specialist - Defense Distribution Depot Susquehanna PA (DDSP) - Susquehanna, PA
Trained and perform duties at the Eastern Distribution Center (EDC) in the Containerization Consolidation Point (CCP). Knowledgeable in all functions and facets of the Defense Distribution Depot Susquehanna PA. Diligently work towards all goals and objectives set by senior management while using the strategic focus of the Eastern Distribution Center.
Versed in SOPs from multiple work areas including Receiving, Mission, Containerization & Consolidation Point, Material Inspection, Stowing, Returns, Picking, Packing, Inventory Control and Shipping.
- Perform receiving, unloading, loading, and processing of incoming shipments, reporting over, short, or damaged conditions
- Unload materials and freight from depot and ordered supply companies
- Verify all shipments and materials by bill of lading
- Visually and physically examine a variety of incoming materials
- Operate forklifts to assemble items into groups and segregate materials according to condition, type of transaction, or property class
- Route materials to appropriate processing lines based on transportation control number, stock, quantity, weight, cube, priority and other codes
- Process receipts using distribution standard system and mobile cart computer systems
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in receipts
- Perform inquiries to resolve receipt problems and identify materials by national stock numbers
- Perform breakdown of items and materials from United Parcel Service, Federal Express and General Service Administrative
- Segregate small items to upstairs processors and process large materials
- Ensure hazardous materials are segregated and taken to hazardous area for staging
- Load hazardous materials on hazardous trailers for shipment to hazardous warehouse
- Palletize and strap down items for security and transportation by cart system
- Process and transport over-sized items by tugs to ALOC or surface locations for shipping
- Document and record any malfunctions dealing with MHE
- Instruct team members on Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) usage
- Ensure pre-operational checklists are completed for forklifts before use
- Comply with all preventative maintenance requests and encourage safe MHE operation
- Identify problem areas and coordinate corrective actions
- Implement process improvements and continuous improvements
- Maintain updated records on work and process flow using Microsoft Applications such as Excel, Office, Word, Outlook, and Access
- Prioritize material for assigned tasks and ensure regulatory compliance
- Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and decisiveness in team efforts and organizational settings
- Provide logistical support to a variety of customers throughout the Department of Defense
- Assign tasks while being considerate of others' views and open to compromise
- Exercise tact and diplomacy to maintain effective relationships
- Conduct on-the-job training and demonstrate proper work methods in detail
- Direct new or changed procedures and demonstrate tasks not understood
- Provide timely, accurate, and easily understood oral and written data and information
