Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of identifying learning issues, and recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning.
- Participates in PPT's and assists in developing Individual Educational Plans ("IEP") for students.

- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Assists in the orientation of new teachers, and provides in-service training in guidance.

- Utilizes appropriate crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques, which may include the physical restraint and confinement of residents in response to episodes of extreme acting-out behavior.
- Teaches proper methods of personal care, grooming, and basic household activities to ensure suitable standards are followed for order, cleanliness, safety and care of furnishings and equipment.

Maintain and operating in compliance with N.J. Department of Education (DOE) regulations and Core Curriculum Content Standards, N.J. Department of Vocational Education regulations, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) regulations, and applicable state/local/federal regulations.
- Plan and implement applicable classroom instruction, specializing within one or more areas of functional, developmental, vocational, and/or transitional curriculum in elementary or secondary education; e.g., language arts, math, social studies, computers, health and safety, science, family life, vocational/employment, daily living, music, art, physical education, etc., in accordance with the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student.
- Oversee classroom for assigned teacher.
- Ensure the safety of all students maintain in accordance to state law.
- Follows state-approved emergency procedures and utilizes NJ approved crisis intervention techniques.
- Trained and prep promptly responds to, emergency situations to ensure the safety and security of the Program site and persons served at all times; e.g., participates in fire drills, emergency evacuations, etc.
- Informed on proper reporting procedures to authority in the event of a valid emergency.

- Tutor and assist all students in need of help.
- Actively participates in implementation of educational plan for each student. Interacts on a regular basis with Education management, other faculty members, clinical discipline-specific staff, etc., regarding the implementation of the IEP for each student.
- Measures abilities and aptitudes of individual students; develops, organizes, and implements lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meet the learning needs of each student, encourage increased skills, and address specific IEP goals.
- Implements current classroom lesson plans if required; when applicable develops and formulates daily lesson plans that identify specific objectives, teaching resources, teaching strategies, and contain a specific plan for the assessment of the lesson plan's overall effectiveness.
- Effectively manages the individual behavior of students to create and ensure a safe and secure classroom environment.
- Effectively utilizes a variety of instructional resources and teaching strategies; willingly shares ideas and instructional resources with other staff members.
- May establish and maintain individual records and daily checklists for each student and ensures that records remain up-to-date and confidential.
- Tracks individual progress and prepares progress reports when applicable in accordance with established timeframes for each student and for review by Education management.
- Keeps daily attendance records.
