I work for the Florida Department of Health as a Medical Laboratory Scientist IV in the sequencing lab. I perform daily RNA extractions, PCR, and SARS-2 genome sequencing. Prior to my change in roles, I ran assays in the Hepatitis lab, and occasionally processed, prepared slides, and used microscopy to determine the presence/absence of parasites in specimens for the Microbiology lab.
I am a recent graduate of FIU with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and natural and applied sciences with 2 years of dry lab (computational) experience in the Liberles-Siltberg lab performing proteomics/bioinformatics investigations. I am a hardworking, passionate learner, who loves to embrace the opportunity to forge new collaborations as part of a team.
Molecular biology techniques such as RT-PCR, NGS Library Prep, RNA/DNA extraction, Sequencing Run preparation and troubleshooting, ddPCR, Molecular quantification with Qubit/Agilent, Gel Electrophoresis, Operating state of the art chemi-luminescent instruments such as Abbott’s ARCHITECT to carry out immunological assays, maintenance and troubleshooting, Compound and Fluorescent microscopic practices via preparing samples, staining smears, wet mounts, and identifying bloodborne and intestinal bacterial and/or parasitic organisms.
