My name is Tina Xinru Wang, Psy.D., M.A., a current postdoctoral fellow working for the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program at the University of California, San Francisco, until February 2027. I am also a 1.5-generation immigrant from China. I am trilingual in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese.
I have years of experience serving marginalized and underserved communities across a range of settings, from community mental health clinics to inpatient hospitals. My therapeutic modality consists of short-term models such as CBT, DBT, and ACT, as well as long-term interventions such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and psychodynamic approaches, all grounded in empathy, fairness, respect, and cultural inclusiveness. Symptoms I have treated include depression, anxiety, mania, panic attacks, OCD, chronic trauma, personality disorders (namely Borderline and Narcissistic), grieve and loss, end-of-life distress, active psychosis, paranoia, physical impulsivity, somatic complains, chronic pain, substance-related addictions, comorbidities with physical illnesses, identity issues, family conflicts, interpersonal relationship issues, sociocultural crises, and active suicidal/homicidal ideations.
More than 90% of my historical caseload consists of people of color, LGBTQ+ communities, immigrants, and children of immigrants.
I completed my doctoral-level training at William James College with a specialization in Asian Mental Health. Before that, I earned my Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a major in psychology and a minor in Japanese language studies.
