About

As an emergency and critical care nurse I work by triaging patients as they come in, obtaining vitals, working with the doctor to complete a treatment plan and performing sedation and anesthesia as needed. During busy shifts I try to help the team by staying on top of the whiteboard and offer directions to complete appointments in a timely manner. I also try to help others by answering phone calls, helping with small tasks and working on the cleaning task list.

While working as a shift lead I developed many SOPs, worked on team member coaching (interpersonal and professional conversations), worked on schedules and team building.

Emergency and Hospitalist Technician - South Metro Animal Emergency Center

(2023-09 - 2024-06)

I worked both ICU and ER shifts since starting and developed multiple SOP’s for higher patient care. I worked closely with the DVM’s and management to update the SOP’s and helped train on the floor the procedures.

Overnight Technician Lead - Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota

(2022-05 - 2023-09)

As an Overnight Lead I work closely with my team to ensure team morale and spirits are high as well as job performance and expectations are being met. I have worked on and completed hospital SOP’s, documented communications and write ups and worked one on one with staff when they hit road blocks.

Emergency and Intensive Care Unit Technician - Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota

(2019-04 - 2023-09)

As an Emergency Technician I worked closely with the DVMs and Support staff to quickly assets any situation that came through our door. The goal at any time is to stabilize the patient as accurately and quickly as possible, so communication is a large part of this. I have assisted and led multiple “codes”, I am certified in RECOVER (Reassessment Campaign on Veterinary Resuscitation) in both basic and advanced CPR.

I am confident in my technical abilities; restraint, venipuncture, catheterization, positioning for radiography, medical math for both single dosages and constant rate infusions, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, surgical prep and scrub ins, running lab work, setting up and reading manual differentials, fecals and urinalysis. As an ICU technician I work one on one with animals providing care throughout my shift after initial stabilization is complete. This can include any and everything from basic husbandry like changing bedding, walks, feeding and bathing, to one on one care like monitoring patients on manual and mechanical ventilator, or continuous support after “coding” or a rough recovery from anesthesia.

I am also a member of the training team and have trained mult

Float Technician - Blue Pearl Emergency and Specialty Hospital - Blaine, MN

(2018-10 - 2019-03)

As a Float Technician I try to support every department during times of need or struggle; meal breaks, short staff, medical or person leave or increased case load. I feel comfortable stepping into any situation to lead a hand or organize as needed. I found myself spending most of my time in ER due to ever changing cases and case load.

In Emergency I have expanded my technical skill set and have successfully placed urinary catheters, central lines, pic lines and nasogastric feeding tubes. I also have been able to help in Emergency by working as a Triage Technician, this allows me to continue having client relationships which I enjoy tremendously and step up as a leader to facilitate the flow of appointments and treatments. I also have spent a fair amount of shifts working the C3 position which is also very client oriented.

I find working with clients, especially during emergencies, to be one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. I find that even the smallest things can go so far in anyone's time of need, bringing cups of water to owners in rooms during stressful times can make all the difference.

ER/ICU Nurse; IM Technician (1-2 days a week as needed); C3 - As Needed - VSEC Blue Pearl - Conshohoken, PA

(2018-03 - 2018-10)

As an ER/ICU technician I handle triage and/or treatments for any Emergency patient that comes into the hospital. I manage multiple different patients with inflictions from simple lacerations, ear infections and fleas to blocked cats, GDVs, HBCs, and seizures. I feel comfortable talking to owners in both of these types of situations.

I am comfortable with using ultrasound to determine if the patient needs immediate attention, such as abnormal fluid in body cavities and with performing cystocentisis. I dose medications, give medications, file prescriptions and discharge clients. As an IM Technician I answer client questions, make appointments, get a history from clients on their pets, access patients, pull and send out blood work, with proper forms, to many different locations.

I have assisted in a few scopes both as anesthesiologist or assistant. As a CSR, I answer phones and am able to triage any emergency as they call so as a hospital we are prepared for what is about to come in and am comfortable making, changing and confirming appointments . I check in clients for all departments, if a true triage now I can triage to the back immediately.

I am also comfortable checking out clie

Veterinary Technician/Lead Technician - Banfield - King Of Prussia, Pa

(2016-01 - 2017-08)

I assisted surgeries between 3-4 times per week upwards of 5 surgeries per day. Surgeries ranged from spay/neuters, dentals and simple soft tissue surgeries to complex emergency type surgeries including GDVs, foreign bodies and cystotomies. Some of our dentals included dental radiographs, which I feel comfortable taking and training others on.

When I wasn't assisting our doctors in surgeries, I was assisting with appointments. During appointments we used SOAP to take notes for the doctors and discharge instructions for the owners. While working as a Veterinary Technician I was able to work with other associates to improve and/or gain their and my skill sets which include anesthesia, patient care, laboratory procedures and client communication.

As Lead

Technician I worked with management in; hiring, training, scheduling and reviewing of staff, with clients in problem resolution and financial issues and last but not least with staff in training, problem solving, support for interpersonal issues and concerns.

Surgical Veterinary Technician - Phoenixville Animal Hospital - Phoenixville, Pa

I also set up surgery by setting up IV lines and dental machines, pressure testing and filling the anesthesia machine, testing and choosing intubation tubes and hooking up the Cardell (EKG, SPO2 and NIBP).

After surgery I cleaned whichever surgical area was used (surgery or dental areas). As a technician I assisted the doctors in the rooms with the clients, in the treatment area with the patients and in the laboratory by reading cytologies or running blood work.

Technician Supervisor - VCA Kapolei Animal Hospital - Kapolei, HI

(2011-08 - 2013-09)

During my time as VCA Kapolei I worked as a technician, receptionist, and clinic supervisor. Every staff member was required to be able to assist in surgery and make appointments. As a receptionist I answered phones, made appointments, made financial transactions, helped clients with any questions before they left, did surgery discharge, and went over medications.

As a technician I assisted the Veterinarian in rooms for appointments and in surgery. I also performed restraint, venipuncture, dentals, drug calculations in treatment. In the lab I examined in house fecal floatation, blood slides, and fine needle aspirates.

As the supervisor I was also the one that everyone went to when they didn't know how to do something. I was in charge of training all new hires, receptionists or technicians. Any time there was an unhappy client I was asked to step in and help.

I also made the staff schedule, ordered all the pharmacy and surgery supplies, and ordered weekly food from Science Diet. I was also invited and participated in a 2 week leadership forum held by VCA at their head office in LA.
