[2022-Current] YOUTH PASTOR – POMERADO CHRISTIAN CHURCH
- I’ve spent the last couple of years partnering alongside both parents and students in a rebuild of the youth group. The ministry lost a lot of traction when it lost its former youth leader due to a major family hardship. Outside of adopting a temporary interim to lead students from a calculated distance, the youth pastor role remained empty for over a year before I was hired.
- Collaboratively, the youth leadership team has repurposed the youth group’s mission statement, leading to the students finding an enlarged presence in Poway’s community.
- I’ve focused much of my time on reconnecting the adolescent crowd with different ministries via intergenerational ministry.
[2019-2021] YOUTH PASTOR – LAS FLORES CHURCH
- Helped lead the student ministry into a significant number increase before the COVID-19 pandemic took over.
- Spent quarantine "stay-at-home" order time rebuilding the interior of the youth room and constructing a recreation shed.
- Traveled to students’ homes weekly to teach them bible studies from their curbs, preaching from the recycle bin pulpit.
- Saw waves of student participation throughout COVID-19; we re-emerged with a surprising number of familiar faces.
Reason for Departure: Simply put, the Senior Pastor let each staff member go one by one until the board asked him to resign.
[2017-2018] STUDENT MINISTRIES PASTOR – VALLEY CHRISTIAN CHURCH
- Led a youth group of 40+ students.
- Developed a student leadership team, delegating different responsibilities to each.
- Built healthy communication lines between the parents and youth leadership.
Reason for Departure: Right seat, wrong bus; can explain in more detail upon request.
[2014-2016] JUNIOR HIGH DIRECTOR – THE CHURCH AT GREEN HILLS
- Oversaw junior high ministry leadership and development.
- Increased the average attendance sizably over two years practicing relational ministry.
- Co-led Family Ministry Team in its attempt to fuse separate ministries into a more holistic fellowship.
- Led the students from being a scattered bunch of strangers into a solid community.
Reason for Departure: Served 3 years when wife became pregnant with second child; needed salary increase
[2010- 2013] JUNIOR HIGH DIRECTOR – TORRANCE FIRST BAPTIST
- Shepherded a growing JH ministry that nearly doubled its size each year of service, totaling over 30 active teenagers in the 7th/8th-grade middle school bracket
- Recruited and empowered the student leadership team to become a steady presence in students’ lives.
- Enlisted two college students to help mature the worship team and begin teaching students the art of worship.
Reason for Departure: I served 3 years before my wife became pregnant with our first child, which led me to begin seeking a FT role.
