I am a 25-year-old college student and recently managed to get my Associate's degree in mathematics/natural sciences, and I'm looking to get my major in Geology in West Chester University. Ultimately, I would like to earn a degree in paleontology. I am a very hard worker, I do well with routine, and I follow directions implicitly. I am available for part-time and full-time work, and I am eager to start at any time.
Dishwasher at Wonder (2025-12 – Present)
In December of 2025, I would apply to work at Wonder (a restaurant) as a dishwasher and got the job by the end of the month. As of now, my main responsibilities consist of washing dishes and keeping the back area of the kitchen clean. I've also recently been in the kitchen once or twice to see how I'd do when cooking the food, and I've done well so far. I work 5–6-hour shifts from 6 PM to midnight 2 times a week at the minimum, and I get called in semi-often when needed.
Kitchen Staff at Barclay Friends (2023-07 – 2025-07)
I applied for work at Barclay and Friends (a nursing home) and got the job at the end of July 2023. I worked in the kitchen there for 2 years, and my main responsibilities consist of dishwashing, cleaning, and sorting food. At times, I also brought dishes over to divisions of the building that needed them.
I worked 9-hour shifts and started off coming in on call but later worked a set schedule working every Monday and every other weekend. They made me stop working Mondays due to scheduling issues, leading to me resigning in July 2025 because I wasn't working as many hours as I wanted.
Kitchen Staff at Pho Life (2021-10 – 2022-10)
I worked in Pho Life (a Vietnamese restaurant) for roughly a year. I worked here part-time while I was taking classes at Delaware Community College. My responsibilities primary focused on closing, i.e., cleaning and preparing the kitchen for the next day of operation. I also participated in food preparation and filling orders. I usually worked 2-3 hours an evening, Monday through Saturday. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed in November of 2022.
Volunteer at County Cup (2016-01 – 2020-03)
I did volunteer work at a small café called the County Cup from periodically from 2016 to to 2019, from Sep 2019 - March 2020 I worked here several hours a day, twice a week.
Volunteer at The Brandywine SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) (2014-01 – 2018-12)
I began volunteering here with my family because I have a special interest and love of dogs. I usually volunteered 1-3 hours a day, a few days a week. In 2016 I asked my high school job training program to incorporate my volunteer duties in a more formal fashion. I did this as part of my schoolwork from 2016 to 2018.
Volunteer at Elmwood Park Zoo (2017-09 – 2018-05)
My volunteer work here was quite different than the work I did with pets at the SPCA. The many of the animals kept by the zoo are considered dangerous and required specialized care. We shadowed the zoo's professional caretakers and never worked directly with any of the animals.
We recorded our interactions with the caretakers and our observations of the animals in an Excel spreadsheet such as the time and date, animal behavior and care given. We usually worked here one day a week for the entire day.
Volunteer at Treetop Kitty Café (2017-09 – 2018-05)
Here my duties incorporated many of the skills that I acquired from the County Cup and the SPCA listed above, including basic domestic animal care and running a small coffee shop.
