Pre-health Advising. Students learn more about the pre-health track at UMW. What was accomplished in this event was to know how far along are you in a track. Also how many different types of tracks are in the pre-health track, like pre-vet, pre-med, etc.
Volunteer - Panama Trip at Global Brigades (2024-01-07 – 2024-01-13)
- Day 1: packed medicine, packed hygiene, and dental hygiene to give out to the community. Learn how to take blood pressure, respiratory rate, and pulse.
- Day 2: Shadow a general physician. Took blood pressure and listen to their breathing when a patient has asthma or mucus in the lungs. Ran papers to the pharmacy.
- Day 3: worked with a pharmacist. Label prescription, how many they need to take etc. why they are getting this medication. Talked we with our 2 general physicians, and dentists, about the differences in the health perspective in the United States and Panama.
- Day 4: worked with a dentist. Was about to learn the numbering of the teeth, and was shown the different tools and their names. Clean, and extraction of teeth
- Day 5: walk around the community to do interviews about the well-being of children under 10 years old.
