Yamaris Martinez

Hello, my name is Yamaris Martinez and I am currently a part time student at Northwestern University in their pre med post baccalaureate program. I have an undergraduate degree in architecture but am currently working on the prerequisites for medical school. I have spent the past 2 years as a full time floating medical scribe at several Baptist Health urgent care centers in Southern Florida.

I was later promoted to scribe lead at a specific urgent care center and became very comfortable with the environment and dynamic of both the team and the patients and really enjoyed the type of care the urgent care center provided to them. Along with reading and writing patient charts and reports, I assisted the team with basic patient care such as providing water and blankets and cleaning exam rooms. I have also assisted physicians with basic procedures such as lacerations.

I completed an EMT program during my gap year and passed the NREMT, and am currently licensed in both Florida and Illinois. I would love to grow my skills in more direct patient/clinical experience.

Medical Scribe Lead + Clinical Shadowing at Baptist Health Urgent Care (2025-08 – Present)

In charge of understanding what is occurring at a specific urgent care location, listening to provider feedback, reviewing charts and reporting back to the manager. Training new scribes in writing reports and leading them as they are introduced into the urgent care environment and exposed to diagnosis, treatment plan, medical procedures and overall team workflow.

Medical Scribe + Clinical Shadowing at Criticare Clinics | Baptist Health Urgent Care (2024-07 – Present)

• Write the reports of every patient that comes into the urgent care center that day including their background/history, the symptoms they are complaining of, the physical exam of the physicians, the official diagnosis and extra notes directly from the physician.
• Observed patient and physician interaction in a fast urgent care setting, typically seeing 40-60 patients per physician over a 12-hour shift.
• Viewed a variety of medical areas regarding patient symptoms including gastrointestinal, respiratory, ENMT, ocular, musculoskeletal, integumentary, psychiatric, cardiovascular and neurological issues.
