Hello! My name is YuQiu Chen, but I go by Tammy. As my title suggests, I am currently an RPI student, now in my third year of undergraduate. I have a strong interest in design, prototyping, and hands-on testing.
I am familiar with NX, and Fusion 360, though I am definitely able to learn SolidWorks and other CAD programs if necessary. I consider myself to be a dependable and adaptable person, and I enjoy collaborating with others in group work settings. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute and work in an environment where I can apply my technical knowledge.
I have hands-on experience with mechanical designing and prototyping mostly from my academic projects. In my professional experience, I have developed strong communication, organization and leadership skills as a Resident Assistant and from my experience working in customer service. Also, from my professional experience, I have learned time management skills that allowed for me to work multiple jobs at once while maintaining a balanced work-life schedule.
I am pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a dual major in Economics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I am expected to graduate May 2027. Some of the relevant courses includes Engineering Graphics and CAD, Engineering Processes, Heat Transfer, Strengths of Materials, Fluid Dynamics, Elements of Mechanical Design, and Modeling and Control of Dynamic Systems.
From these classes, I have learned CAD modeling using NX and Fusion 360, MATLAB and NumPy for advanced calculations, and Mechanical Fabrication tools such as the lathe and vertical mill.
