About

I am an enthusiastic thermal/aerospace engineer with thirteen years of experience in leading aero-thermal, heat transfer/fluid dynamic models, design of engine cooling systems, methods and product development, and process improvement activities.

Experience

Senior Tech Lead – Air technology at AMETEK Instruments India Private Limited (2019-12 – Present)

  • Worked on the complete Engine Cooling System for the battle vehicles from the design level to installation and integration of the full assembly.
  • Engine cooling system prototypes were designed, manufactured and built in India
  • Well-managed interactions with the supplier and end-customers. Followed a methodical approach to achieve the complete assembly.
  • The Closed and open loop fan drive hydraulic systems are designed for the engine cooling system prototypes.
  • Carried out the thermal analytical calculations to design the different types of Heaters.
  • Worked on the aerodynamic design of the Impeller and Inlet guide vanes.

Lead Engineer - Aero -Thermal at Collins Aerospace Systems, India (2014-02 – 2019-12)

  • Leading methodology development activities for the inlet anti-icing system's aero-thermal characterisation, generating innovative concepts and mentoring engineers.
  • Two patents were published that improved the performance of the nacelle Anti-Icing (bleed air flow) system.
  • Performed Simulations of test configuration using CFD for nacelle D-duct and compared the results with test measurements.
  • Established a CHT methodology for characterising the heat transfer on a turbofan inlet with a swirl air anti-icing system.
  • Worked on the 2D axisymmetric model to predict the aero loads on the aircraft nacelle's inner barrel and internal fan duct.
  • Study carried out for the existing CFD simulation of thrust reverser of nacelle system and generated an idea to improve the performance.
  • External drag and internal pressure loss calculation at the interfaces of overall nacelle configuration. Supported Quality Notification process across all the manufacturing sites.

Project engineer - CFD at S and I Engineering Solutions Private Limited (2013-07 – 2014-01)

  • Worked on surveillance aircraft to calculate the aerodynamic force coefficient using HiFUN in-house code for various angles of attack.
  • Analysed and compared the Hi-FUN solver results with the commercial tool Fluent solver and validated with wind tunnel data.

Project Assistant - CFD Aerodynamics Lab at Aerospace Department, IISc – Bangalore (2012-09 – 2013-07)

  • Participated in AIAA's second high-lift prediction workshop from IISC and published high-quality results in AIAA.
  • Generated the unstructured mesh on the bracket configuration fuselage wing configuration with deployed slat and flap position.

Junior Research Fellow – CFD at Aeronautical Development Agency, Bangalore (2008-09 – 2010-07)

  • Worked on the Ground-effect simulation to study the effect of wing tip vortices at various angles of attack when the aircraft comes closer to the ground.
  • Worked on external flow analysis on generic aircraft to identify the improvement areas in the existing design.
  • Developed the code in C language to capture the flight segments of take-off, climb, cruise and descent from the flight test data.
  • Worked on Tejas aircraft flight performance evaluation and documentation for Take-off, Climb, Cruise, level acceleration and landing segments.

M.Tech Project at Aeronautical Development Agency, Bangalore (2011-07 – 2012-06)

One-year M. Tech. The project is carried out in Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), Bangalore on the topic of "Aerodynamics Study of a Generic Fighter Aircraft." This project deals with the aerodynamics shape optimization of a generic fighter aircraft to reduce the wave drag at supersonic speeds.
