Descripción del puesto

Who we are Infinia is a fast-growing fintech building the infrastructure that enables companies to move money across Latin America and beyond.

Our platform connects businesses, PSPs, financial institutions, and digital asset companies to local payment rails, enabling cross-border collections, payouts, FX, settlement, and liquidity management through a single API. As we continue to scale, we're looking for a Software Developer (Python) to join our Engineering team and help us build reliable, scalable financial infrastructure.

As a Software Developer at Infinia, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend services that power our payment infrastructure. You'll work closely with other engineers, product, operations, and external partners, taking ownership of features from technical analysis and implementation through deployment and ongoing improvement.

This is a hands-on role with significant autonomy and the opportunity to work on challenging problems involving payments, financial infrastructure, APIs, distributed systems, and digital assets.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Python.
  • Design, implement, and document RESTful APIs, preferably using FastAPI.
  • Work with relational databases, primarily PostgreSQL, and build efficient SQL queries.
  • Integrate with internal and third-party services, financial institutions, payment providers, and other infrastructure.
  • Participate in the technical analysis of requirements, architecture decisions, and task estimation.
  • Own features and projects from initial design through deployment and production support.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
  • Collaborate with engineers, QA, product, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot production issues, helping improve the reliability and observability of our systems.
  • Contribute to improving our engineering processes, tooling, architecture, and development practices.
  • Work on challenging, high-impact projects involving complex payment infrastructure, financial integrations, and real-world problems.
  • Collaborate with leading companies and top-tier clients in the payments industry, gaining exposure to sophisticated use cases and international financial infrastructure.

What we're looking for
  • 3+ years of professional experience developing software with Python.
  • Experience building backend applications and REST APIs.
  • Experience with FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience working with Git and modern software development practices.
  • Technical English proficiency — comfortable reading documentation, working with code, and communicating in technical contexts.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and take ownership of your work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, results-oriented mindset.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with AWS, particularly RDS and other cloud services.
  • Experience with testing, CI/CD, observability, or DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Conversational English.
  • Experience working with fintech, payments, banking, digital assets, crypto, compliance, or financial infrastructure.
  • Experience integrating with banks, payment providers, PSPs, or financial APIs.
  • Experience working with high-volume or mission-critical systems.
  • Experience at a startup or early-stage company.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset or experience building products/projects independently.

What we value Beyond specific technologies, we're looking for people who:

  • Take ownership — you don't wait for someone to tell you every step.
  • Are curious — you want to understand how things work, not just implement tickets.
  • Think like builders — you're comfortable turning an idea or problem into a working solution.
  • Are pragmatic — you know when to build something simple and when complexity is justified.
  • Care about reliability — when you're working with financial infrastructure, correctness matters.
  • Enjoy learning — fintech, payments, and digital assets are constantly evolving.
  • Are entrepreneurial — previous experience starting something, building side projects, or working in a startup environment is highly valued.

What we offer

  • Join a fast-growing fintech operating across multiple Latin American markets.
  • Work on real-world financial infrastructure and systems that move money at scale.
  • High degree of ownership and autonomy.
  • Close collaboration with a highly technical and international team.
  • Opportunity to work with payments, banking, FX, digital assets, and financial APIs.
  • Competitive compensation in USD.
  • Hybrid work model: 2 days in the office / 3 days remote for candidates in Montevideo and the metropolitan area.
  • Fully remote for candidates based elsewhere in Uruguay or Argentina.
  • Participation in the engineering on-call rotation as it is introduced, with the corresponding compensation included in the package.
