About this course
This course is for account managers inheriting a customer portfolio. You will map outcomes, stakeholders, risks and internal actions from a handover, record dependable CRM notes, and open the relationship with a documented owner, realistic expectation and agreed next step. Account management starts when a client relationship is handed to you, not when a renewal is due. This module shows how to read a handover, map the customer’s outcomes and people, record reliable CRM notes, and set a communication rhythm. You will leave with a one-page account brief and a usable opening message before minute 5, then practise a kickoff conversation and an interview answer that demonstrates ownership, judgement and follow-through. A customer may say that they want better service, faster growth or a smoother implementation, but those phrases are not yet an account plan. This module teaches discovery that reaches an observable business outcome, maps the customer’s current state and constraints, and converts the conversation into a success plan with measures, owners, milestones and review points. It covers meeting preparation, questioning, listening, evidence quality, mutual action plans and the beginner mistakes that make discovery feel like an interrogation or a sales pitch. Account managers create confidence when information travels at the right time, in the right level of detail and to the people who can act. This module covers stakeholder mapping, meeting design, written updates, difficult news, escalation paths and cross-functional coordination. You will practise distinguishing an operational update from an executive decision, turning a risk into a clear escalation and protecting the customer from internal confusion without hiding a real problem. Renewal work is the result of value made visible over time, not a last-minute request for a signature. This module shows how to build a value narrative from agreed outcomes, usage and stakeholder evidence, recognise commercial and relationship risk, prepare a renewal conversation, and identify expansion only when it follows a real customer need. It also covers forecast hygiene, procurement timing, objection handling, scope boundaries and the difference between a healthy account and a merely quiet account. Account management becomes a repeatable profession when you can prioritise a portfolio, inspect leading signals, protect time for customer work, and explain your judgement to a manager or interviewer. This final module combines weekly operating rhythm, portfolio segmentation, metrics, quality reviews, resilience and interview evidence. It shows how to distinguish activity from outcome, how to use a risk register and how to present a ninety-day plan without claiming certainty that the account data cannot support.
