Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management:

  • Supervise day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure timely and efficient production
  • Develop, implement, and monitor production schedules to meet customer demand and quality standards
  • Coordinate the maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment to prevent downtime.
Resource Management:
  • Oversee the allocation of labor, materials, and equipment in alignment with production goals.
  • Ensure that raw materials and inventory are maintained at optimal levels to avoid delays.
  • Manage all EPS Production, Logistics, Operational staff.
Quality Control:
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet industry standards and specifications.
  • investigate NCR’s and complaints and find the root cause, corrective action and costs involved. Communicate with customers during quality investigations to ensure the final NCR is closed.
  • Work closely with the SHEQ team to address any product defects or production errors.
Cost Management:
  • Monitor production costs, implement cost-saving initiatives, and identify areas for process Improvement.
  • Develop and manage budgets , aiming to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all Employees, working together with the SHEQ team.
  • Responsible for Isando and Sebenza plant health and safety – 16.2 appointment.
  • Responsible for the buildings and infrastructure (machinery, boilers) at Isando and Sebenza plant.
  • Responsible/Manage the security company to ensure the safety of the premises. Manage the regular meetings with the security company and address concerns.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead efforts in process optimization and automation to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Analyze production data and feedback to drive improvements in processes, quality, and production.
Collaboration and Reporting:
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, sales, procurement) to ensure alignment and smooth production flow.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and progress toward production goals to senior management.
Problem-Solving:
  • Quickly resolve any production issues or delays.
  • Implement corrective actions for recurring problems to enhance operational efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

  • BEng OR BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations preferably in the polymer industry, with at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Proven experience in managing production teams and complex manufacturing processes.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, machinery, and technology.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and manufacturing execution.
Leadership and Communication Skills:
  • Excellent leadership abilities with a track record of motivating teams and improving productivity.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and reporting to senior management.
Analytical Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with an ability to analyze data and implement solutions.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
Attention to Detail:
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency.
This role is critical to ensuring that the Moulding manufacturing department operates smoothly, efficiently, and profitably.
