Lecturer in Occupational Health and Safety for over 10 years by Tshwane University of Technology, then Technikon Northern Transvaal. Worked as Environmental Health officer with Department of Health and Senior Lecturer Technikon Northern Transvaal. Worked for the Department of Environment as Assistant Director, Deputy Director and Director responsible for Waste Management.

Subsequently worked as Senior Environmental Consultant with Strategic Environmental Focus and then as General Manager responsible for Waste Management at Lafarge Cement. In 2014, appointed Chief Director: Environment Management by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy with responsibilities including mine rehabilitation, and Occupational Health and Safety at the rehabilitated mines.

Oversaw all aspects of mine environmental management, including policy development, legislation, and sustainable practices. Managed mine closure rehabilitation of mines, pollution control and water ingress including Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). Ensured compliance with environmental management standards, policies and regulations. Developed strategies for the mitigation of Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). Implemented Occupational, Health and Safety in mine operations.

• Through managing DMPR Contracts between the department and both CGS and Mintek, successfully improved the State of Geological Infrastructure in the country.
• Managed and successfully through Council for Geoscience and Mintek rehabilitated of over 15 derelict and ownerless mines as well as over 350 mine shafts.
• Through CGS developed the database of derelict and ownerless mines
• Successfully developed strategies for the mitigation of Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) (eg Florida Canal)
• Through involvement of several government departments and relevant municipalities, facilitated the development of Shale Gas exploration in the Northern Cape.
• Successfully prepared parliamentary briefing notes for the Minister and Director General related to mine closure and Acid Mine Drainage.
• Successfully represented the DMPR in Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Minerals.
• Through involvement of the Security Cluster Departments, successfully represented the department in illegal mining challenge in the country.
• Managed over nine (9) years' annual budget allocation of over R143 million from National Treasury.
