Yoga instructor for the neurodiverse community.
I am transitioning to a focus on holistic wellness after several years of working in school environments with Early Years/Foundation Phase learners with various needs (including children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome), Global Development Delay, Cerebellar Ataxia, William’s Syndrome, ADHD, and other communication, language and learning barriers). My passion lies not only in working with neurodiverse children, but also in guiding their families and caregivers as to how to create a lovingly mindful, supportive environment in which such children are able to thrive and reach their full potential.
My current instruction includes play and movement therapies as well as meditation and breathwork techniques to encourage mindfulness and self regulatoratory practices.
In addition to holding a Master’s Degree in Literature Studies, I am a fully qualified yoga instructor (200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified) and have completed various education courses including certificates focused on Applied Behaviour Analysis, Physical prompting for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets, and Detection of Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have also completed courses like the IB Primary Years Program for teaching Early Years and Autism South Africa’s Hands On Autism Workshop.
