I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the HPCSA and BHF offering both online and in-person sessions in my private practice. I am experienced in dealing with a range of conditions including but not limited to depressive, anxiety, trauma, substance use conduct and impulse control, identity and learning disorders.
I have a special interest in men's health, African Psychology and queer-affirming therapy. I am experienced in Jungian Analytic therapy, Schema Therapy, CBT, Accpetance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), dream therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, Couples therapy, Transpersonal Psychology and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I am passionate about seeing people (even without any problems) reach their full potential.
2020: Clinical Psychology Trainee at UKZN- provided in-person and online psychology sessions to clients and was trained and experienced in psychometric testing, assessment, treatment, diagnosis and formulation. Experience in group psychology.
2021: Clinical Psychology Intern for the Department of Health- fulfilled roles and duties as a psychology intern at King Dinizulu Hospital Complex and King Edward V Hospital in Durban. Assessment, testing, diagnosis, formulation, treatment, referral and presentation of clients of all ages and diverse psychiatric conditions. Experience in group psychology.
2022 Aug- 2023 Aug: Clinical Psychologist for Department of Correctional Services- provided mental health care services and reporting for parole for male offenders from the Pietermaritzburg Medium A management area. Provided mental health care groups.
2022 Oct: Presented my dissertation “Towards an Applied African Psychology: A scoping Review” at the PSYSSA conference.
2023 Aug: Started private practice as Brandon Kayat Psychology offering both in-person and online psychology sessions.
