Currently working as a SHEQ Compliance Manager for a Facilities Management Company that manages the building for the Department of Basic Education in Pretoria. It is a 25-year Public Private Partnership where we manage the facilities on behalf of the Department. It is a full risk penalty driven contract where we manage all technical and soft services of the building.
Some of the duties I perform consist of the following;
- Manage the Integrated Management System in line with the ISO 9001; 14001 and 45001 standards and ensure ISO Certification is achieved for the site.
- Ensure all procedures and policies are reviewed, implemented and effective for operations and are in line with ISO standards and company policies.
- Drive continual improvement throughout the operations, including tracking and monitoring the management system performance.
- Driving the Health and Safety culture on site (ensuring legal appointments, SHE Committee Meetings, Staff Consultation, Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures are in place)
- Checking all contractor Files and ensure that contractors SLA's align with contract requirements and Health, Safety and Environmental Requirements. Providing permits to work if required, based on high-risk work conducted.
- Tracking and documenting all operational, health, safety and environmental risks, review and amend when changes occur or annually.
- Conducting emergency preparedness training, updating and reviewing the emergency procedures annually or when needed.
- Conducting Toolbox Talks and training of safe operating procedures with the Handymen, Electricians and implementing job observations with the staff.
- Ensure all relevant training and communications are done with all staff to ensure that the right staff competency is in place.
- Scheduling and leading audit plans (internal/external) to ensure compliance against ISO standards and legal requirements.
- Conducting inspections on both internal and external services to determine that all procedures are being adhered to in-line with ISO standards, contract requirements and any applicable legal requirements.
- Ensuring that planned preventative maintenance tasks are conducted in line with Legal requirements and Industry Standards and ensuring that maintenance work is scheduled and competed timeously.
- Monitoring the Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedule to ensure that all legislative and contractual tasks are performed timeously.
- Assisting the team with setting the Operation Budgets and Major Maintenance budgets for the year and adhered to, to ensure effective service delivery.
- Conducting customer surveys to determine the quality of work conducted on calls logged and following up on any issues highlighted.
- Providing reports for the effective management of the Integrated Management System and operations.
- Ensuring that monthly Operations Report is compiled together with Snr Facilities Manager and Building Engineer
