Position Qualified Post Basic Assistant
Based in Bothsog CHC
Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner and within the legal requirements
Capture patients' details accurately, and verify patients' details on the JAC system
Ensure accurate picking / packing / labeling and checking of medication and be aware of common dosages as well as important drug interaction.
Taking in and handing out folder under the strict supervision of a Pharmacist
Analyzing Viral loads, Stationery Notes.
Reporting back to the Clinical staff regarding ARV patient trends and concerns
Understand how TRIAGE system works
Understand OFF-SITE patient system understand MEDIPOST CDU system
Receiving, unloading deliveries
Delivering medicines to other parts of a clinic or health center
Answering patient questions face to face or by phone
Pre-packing, assembling and labeling medicines for MOU and ER AND Prep Room
Referring problems or queries to the pharmacist verbally with confidence
Ensure all medications are checked for accuracy by a Pharmacist and signed by a Pharmacist
Assist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist
Assist in re-packaging of medicine
Provide information to individuals in order to promote health
Take note of any message on the patient profile, and take suitable action
Report on low / out of stock levels, and stock errors to the Pharmacist
Trained in HIV and TB medication and Laws of medication
Collecting Data for patients starting ARV and IPT
Interaction with counselors , Sisters , Doctors etc with regard to patients medication
Preparing and involved in Quarter Stock takes
Unpacking stock according to FIFO and FEFO

Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing in Retail Pharmacy
Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances
Assist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist
Assist in re-packaging of medicine
Assist in the distribution and control of stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances
Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter and front-shop
Follow up with patients regarding script tracking report as requested by the dispensary manager and follow up on appointments
Explain medical aid costs to patients in Retail Pharmacy
Provide information to individuals in order to promote health
Process all paperwork necessary for the accurate submission of claims to medical aids
Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid
Ensure authorisation of chronic, HIV and AIDS and oncology medication
Maintain customer profiles on the system
Merge profiles locally and UCS should be notified to merge profiles centrally
Report on low / out of stock levels, and stock errors to the dispensary manager
Receive dispensary stock in accordance with SOPs, and merchandise according to FEFO
Facilitate bi-annual stock takes
Exercise stock, cash and asset control.
