Following the conclusion on my fixed term contract in the mining sector in the DRC, I am doing HR/IR Consulting work around Southern Africa. I have a B.Com Honours degree in Industrial Sociology (Labour Relations). Experience has taught me that you can't dictate change, you need to influence to achieve your goal and I have successfully done so whilst on various Mining, Construction and Engineering assignments in Africa.
I have more than 23 years’ experience in Human Resources practices and I am a registered Chartered HR Professional – Generalist with the SA Board of People Practices.
I am well adept in the implementation of HR systems, policies, procedures and processes and so contributing to the operational readiness and performance of the company. I am a trained HR Auditor with the SABPP, which gives me the skills to evaluate HR systems and practices of companies and provide them with suggestion for improvements.
I have more than 10 years’ experience working on cross-border African Construction, Engineering and Mining projects and therewith one develops a strong sense of change and transformation and need to continuously coach and mentor either subordinates or Line Management to get traction when pursuing operational readiness, implementing new policies and procedures or change current processes and communicate developmental aspects.
I have managed human resources functions like performance, workforce planning, remuneration, benefits, administration, information systems, employment equity, BBBEE, industrial relations & discipline and CCMA/ Labour Court representation.
With the combination of implementation and management of most HR aspects I am highly proficient in streamlining workflow and processes to really align the HR function to the rest of the business and contribute to the bottom line of the company.
I have more than 10 years of management experience and have recently managed a HR team of 12 individuals and looked after a workforce of more than 1,600 employees whilst employed at the Kamoa Copper mine in the DRC. I have also served on Management and Executive Committees for 2 and a half years.
