About

I am a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts Honours (Rhodes University, 2018 and 2019), and Postgraduate Certificate in Education Graduate (Nelson Mandela University, 2020). I am currently holding a lecturer position in a NPO NGO private community colleage in Cape Town. I have experience in teaching, translating, transcribing, and tutoring clients of various levels and educations.

This role is designed for lecturers in the Bachelor of Education Faculty. I am one of the language lecturers facilitating English Home Language, and isiXhosa Additional and Conversational Language units that are a part of this degree offering. This includes Pre-literacy, Linguistic, and Literature units.

The planning, creating course material, as well as assessing and marking are core responsibilities in this role.

Institutional Chief Invigilator under the Examination Compliance Committee
A member of the Quality Assurance of Learning & Teaching Team.

IsiXhosa First Additional Language Educator | Lilyfontein School

2021-2023

This is an entry-level post designed for the education of grade 1-4 pupils enrolled at Lilyfontein School. The learning area under this post is the IsiXhosa First Additional Language as per Department of Basic Education learning areas under the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement. The planning, execution of teaching, drawing up of assessments, assessing and marking for isiXhosa grade 1-4 was a core responsibility under this role, including isiXhosa FP departmental head functions.

Foundation Phase Safety & Security Officer (Qualified fire marshal from King Fire & First Responder from Alderson MTEC)
Lilyfontein isiXhosa Remedial Teacher (Grade 2-12)

Tutor | Virtual & Contact Tutoring

I offer isiXhosa tutoring to anyone who may need to acquire the language, for whatever reason. I have tutored an attorney and a junior doctor, both starting from very basic competence to being level 4 readers as well as good speakers in their respective careers. I have also conducted sessions for conversational purposes covering a wide variety of topics – at the request of the client. I also make relevant resources as well as offer contact lessons should the lockdown level permit, obviously maintaining a healthy social distance with masks mandatorily on.

Education

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and IsiXhosa Home Language, and Arts Honours in African languages from Rhodes University. I am also a qualified teacher holding a PGCE (post-graduate certificate in Education in Senior Phase and Further Education & Training) from the Nelson Mandela University. I am diligent, energetic and a fast learner.

I am also a seasoned volunteer, and student mentor and have had equal experience in leadership positions in all spheres of my academic and personal life.
