Francois Marais

I am a post-graduate student in Financial Management (BCom Hons Financial Management) at the University of Pretoria. During my studies, I have developed a passion for financial management and would love to further my career in this field. I am a hardworking, dedicated young man with a drive to gain experience and experiential learning.

I am motivated and determined to learn and make the most of my professional life, in this process, I know that the best way to start is to work my way up from the bottom. I aim to complete my CIMA CGMA qualification with an internship and then grow my professional career from there.

• Responsible to capture stock take of all the various stock codes from the stock take sheets onto an excel spreadsheet that was extracted from Pastel Partner. Comparing the system count with the stock count highlights irregularities and differences. When necessary, arranged for the recount of certain product codes. Document control between the captured stock sheets and the non-captured stock sheets was a critical responsibility as a result of the number of individuals doing stock take at various locations.

2014 - 2018

I was an active participant in as many activities as I could be part of. This included various sports (Cricket, Golf, Tennis and Rugby), public speaking (Both individual and group competitions) as well as various leadership roles. I captained just about all the sports teams I participated in.

I was elected to the Student Representative body every year from 2014 to 2018 and was elected as Head Boy in 2018. As a head boy, I led a team of fellow leaders in various activities and events that we had to arrange. I gained experience in being a team leader and a team member as well as good exposure to organizing skills and team motivation.

I also gained experience in conflict resolution as we often assisted to resolve issues between learners

2019 - 2021

I completed my degree in 2021. I stayed in House TAU a residence of the University of Pretoria. This experience helped shape me to have a good relationships with different people from diverse levels of society and to be respectful, caring and understanding.

I was elected to the social committee in 2020 and was responsible for the operating of the residence club and closed the year with a good profit. During 2021 I was elected to the House Committee and was the first-year guardian, responsible for all the first years of 2021. This position helped me gain experience in organizing, listening and motivating of people.

It also helped me grow in my own time management and meeting deadlines to be able to complete all tasks and meet all academic responsibilities

I am currently busy with my Honours Degree in Financial Management to start my practical CIMA qualification with an internship in 2023.
