Friday Shisingi

Mr Friday Shisingi has more than 7 years experience in the mining industry backed by a Degree in Geology, an out-of-box thinker with visionary strengths and resourceful team player. He started his career at Xstrata Alloys as a trainee student being trained at various levels from Plant operation to plant supervision and mine management.

Kiln Process controller - Glencore Lion Smelter

(2012)

As Process Controller Mr Shisingi is responsible for the operation of the Premus Kilns, producing more than 30 000 tons of hot charge pellets for the production of ferrochrome. Mr Shisingi controls, manages & monitors modern mine computer panels while also correcting any deviations/hiccups that may hinder stability in the production process. He must also ensure that production targets are attained without compromising on safety standards

Process Shift Supervisor - Glencore

(2010 - 2012)

At Xstrata alloys raw material blending plant, Friday had to oversee that each team under his supervision works in a safe environment. Mr Shisingi had to ensure that the batching of raw materials, milling, pre-wetting and the pelleting section operate efficiently in the production of green pellets.

Geology Trainee - Shaba Gold

(2005 - 2006)

Mr Friday Geology vocational work program at Shaba Gold covered a wide spectrum of Geology processes which includes: Examination & Identification of rocks, earth minerals including fossil fuels. He applied his knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology and geology to aid in the location of mineral deposits. Preparation of field geologic reports and interpretation of the research data obtained.

Shift Reliever - Xstrata Alloys

(2003 - 2004)

At Xstrata alloys Vantech operation, a vanadium production surface operation, Mr Friday performed several duties as a shift reliever within the mine. Several key areas that he worked in are:

• Crusher plant: he was responsible for size grading of the run of mine ore to the required specifications, utilising Jaw crusher and Cone crusher
• Blending Plant: Mr Friday had to ensure that soda ash which is fused with vanadium ore is properly blend and then conveyed to the Kiln for further treatment, the product thereof was then treated at several stages including leaching and the Furnaces where he gained invaluable experience.
