Gareth Sparks

I am a highly motivated person with exceptional time management skills, an ability to work under pressure, and an ability to think critically. I am also very detail-oriented and enjoy working in diverse groups. At the end of 2021, I completed my Economics Honours degree at Rhodes University. I currently work as a Junior Investment Analyst for a Wealth Management firm based in Singapore called TallRock Capital.

• Tennis coach at St Andrews College and St Andrews Preparatory schools from January 2018 to November 2021. Working with large groups, usually between six and sixteen pupils per match/ coaching session.
• Business Development Associate at Orca AG (contracted out through GrowBPO) from June 2022 to December 2022. Lead generation across the United States and United Kingdom. Reaching out via phone and email to potential new clients. Maintaining strong relationships with potential new clients during the sales cycle.
• Junior Investment Analyst at TallRock Capital from January 2023 to present. Conduct research and analysis to assist in the construction of TallRock Capital’s model portfolios. Conduct reviews of TallRock Capital’s model portfolios by providing detailed reports on performance and recommendations for any changes. Analysing client/ potential client portfolios that do not fall within TallRock Capital’s model portfolios.

• I attended Yellowwoods Preparatory School from grades one to five and St Andrews Preparatory School in grades six and seven.
• I attended high school at St Andrews College and matriculated in 2017. I matriculated with distinctions in History and Life Orientation.
• I completed my 3rd and final year of a general Bachelor of Commerce at Rhodes University at the end of 2020. I majored in Economics and Management and passed with distinction in Economics.
• I completed my Economics Honours course at Rhodes University at the end of 2021 which I passed with an overall distinction. This course had components of macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, public finance, monetary economics, financial markets and derivatives, as well as a year-long research project. The topic for the research project I completed was ‘The Relationship Between the Stock Market and Business Cycle Indicators in South Africa.’
