Grace Unser

My name is Grace, and I am currently a first-year student at the Cape Town Creative Academy studying Contemporary Arts! Throughout high school, I have held service and, later, leadership positions. I enjoy teamwork and working with others, and I take charge when needed.

I have always been a creative person and I love using my skills to create something beautiful. Service towards my community has always been important to me as I love to give back and help to create a better environment for everyone.

Job Shadowing at Micklefield Junior School (2024 – 2024)

I spent three days Job Shadowing at Micklefield Junior School, working under Mrs Sue Walker in her grade 7 class. Through this experience, I was able to experience work as a teacher's assistant, and I was able to help those younger than me with various tasks

Head of Pride Society at Springfield Convent High School (2024 – 2025)

I was head of the Springfield Pride Society for two years. Through the club, I was able to support members in my school community as well as help to foster a more inclusive and aware student body. Through the Pride Society, I was able to forge meaningful connections with students of many different grades.

Head of the Library Monitors at Springfield Convent High School (2025 – 2025)

I was head of my school's library monitors for my entire matric year and helped with organising the library, shelving books, wrapping books and general library education and programs to encourage reading. As the head library monitor, I developed organisational skills, delegation skills and digital skills.

Head of the Eco Portfolio at Springfield Convent High School (2025 – 2025)

In my matric year, I was a part of my school's leadership council as the head of the eco portfolio, which helped foster awareness about climate change and sustainability. Through my position, I learnt necessary leadership skills, the ability to delegate tasks among others, time management and team work. I have experience organising large events through creating my school's first annual Thrift Fair.

Head of the Sustainable Springers at Springfield Convent High School (2025 – 2025)

Sustainable Springers was a sustainability and ecology club at my high school. I was head throughout my matric year, and through the club I was able to teach the student body about sustainability, climate change and ways to protect our environment. The club also improved our school environment through the planting of indigenous plants. From this club, I learnt time management, sustainibility and planning skills.
