Care Assistant - My Grandmother

NQF Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Palliative care qualified professional who is passionate about aiding the elderly to carry out everyday activities independently. I am supportive, understanding and encouraging and have been commended for my grandmother. I have a good knowledge of the national care standards and have experience completing food preparation, housekeeping, and personal care duties.

Provided end of life care for Ms Dlamini (grandmother) following her diagnosis with cancer until she passed away in November 2024.

• Assisted Ms Dlamini with her personal care including supporting her to use the bath or shower, washing her hair, and giving her strip/bed baths in the later days.
• Helped Ms Dlamini to use the bathroom including assisting her to get to and use the toilet or commode, and then the bed pan.
• Managed all Ms Dlamini medication including giving the correct dose and type of medication in line with the prescription.
• Assisted with oral care including brushing teeth.
• Supported Ms Dlamini to pick out clothes and get dressed and undressed.
• Spent social time with MS Dlamini including chatting about her earlier life, accepting visits from other family members, and doing jigsaws.
• Prepared healthy and nutritious meals promoting healthy choices where possible and created blended meals when necessary.
• Completed household chores such as hoovering and dusting to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Commended by District Nurses, the GP and the Social Services team for the exceptional level of care given
