I understand an architect to be someone with the ability to respond to a problem in a multi-layered way considering social and technical informants to arrive at a truly unique solution. It is based on this understanding that I see myself as a dedicated individual who has the capacity to analyse situations in a rational manner whilst utilising my creative capacity to arrive at the best possible solution. It is therefore my biggest asset to be both rational and creative in equal measure.
Despite this self-awareness, I have come to learn that Architecture to me is less about artistic self-expression and more about responding to the user and the context in an apt manner. Thus, resonating with Glenn Murcutt’s regionalist design philosophy of “touching the earth lightly”.

During my time at Mashilo Lambrechts Architects I worked on Revit based projects where my responsibility was to create Lumion renders and Adobe suite based presentations.

Cadre plan is an urban planning based firm. My responsibilities in the team ranged from preparing council plans to GSI mapping. The skills I gained here where predominantly AutoCAD based.

I completed my master’s dissertation Cum Laude (84%) on "An Innovative learning facility geared towards emancipatory education and service provision within informal settlements". The dissertation was under the guidance of Dr C Combrinck, contributing to the ongoing research of the Unit for Urban Citizenship at the University of Pretoria.
