In my current position as a Director: Inmate Care & Empowerment, I am heading the Department that is responsible for the development and care of inmates at MCC. The components for which I am responsible are social work services, psychological services, formal education, skills development training, library service, chaplaincy etc. I am also responsible for the budget of this department to ensure accountable, proper and efficient delivery of development programmes at MCC.
I am a social worker by trade. In 1992, I was appointed as a social worker at the Department of Social Development – Bloemfontein Office. In 1994, I was promoted to a Chief Social Work position. In 1999, the Department of Justice embarked on a programme of opening a specialized sexual offences court. I was appointed to co-ordinate social work services at the court for sexual offences.
