I am qualified to teach English (UK or American curriculum). I hold three degrees, a teaching diploma and a South African teaching licence. I have taught at an international school and produced amazing results.
I connect well with students, parents and fellow teachers by respecting their intellectual abilities, cultures and religions. I can coordinate and team-teach English Language and Literature or IB English at any level. I am aim to align myself with the vision and mission of any school I join, and I am fully conscious of the role I have to play to in and outside the classroom.
I offer coaching of soccer, Model United Nations, and public speaking. I am readily available for Zoom interviews and would like to join a good school in the Middle East anytime this year.
I have taught South African English Home Language for the past fifteen years. I taught both CAPS and IEB curricula, and therefore I know the expected learning outcomes, content and levels of teaching required by both curricula. I have also taught Further Studies English which is equivalent to IB English or AS Level in the British curriculum.
I have marked national examinations for more than twenty years, which means I am able to use assessment rubrics and memoranda effectively. I am competent at using computers and smartboards. I also use educational applications such as Kahoot, Quizlet, and Flipgrid.
I have managerial experience as a Grade Head; this position entailed attending management committee meetings, planning for camps, fundraisers and Grade Show, attending to student concerns, and writing Grade reports to keep parents informed of grade happenings.
Currently, I am a part-time doctoral student at Stellenbosch University. My research focus is on political argumentation using a pragma-dialectical and appraisal framework. I hold a Bachelor Honours and a Masters degree from the same university. I also have a Bachelor of Arts (Linguistics and Shona) from the University of Zimbabwe. I have also attended several professional development courses during my long teaching career.
