My name is Liezl Scholtz, I am a Life Sciences, (Biology) Physical Science (Chemistry and Physics) and HOD (Head of Department) Computer Application Technology teacher in South Africa. My fiancé, Declan Williams (who is also a teacher applying for a post at your school) and myself are embarking on an exciting new journey to start our lives in the Germany.
I have been a Mathematics teacher for 2 years, a Physical Science and Computer Application Technology for 3 years and a Life Science teacher for 1 year, I have been involved in teaching for 5 years. My B.Ed Snr and FET course I studied at the University of Johannesburg was a 4-year degree. So therefore, I have been involved in teaching for a total of 9 years including my practicals that I had to complete for my degree.
During this time, I coached athletics, netball, rowing, and hockey. I coached at the South African Netball Championships where I took the U13 Gauteng (provincial) netball team and won the gold medal. I have been a part of the IEB (Independent Examination Board) matric marking for Computer Application Technology (practical and theory paper) for 2 years.
This is where all matric teachers who were chosen to mark get together and mark and moderate the final matric examinations, it has been a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with my fellow educators and by far my fastest growth in my professional career so far.
