Luyanda Msomi

Let me begin by introducing my netball journey. I am passionate and inquisitive individual who is constantly pushing boundaries. Over the years, I have had several opportunities to represent my team at the Provincial, National and International.

For instance, I played for LUTHAYI HIGH SCHOOL in 2017 during the provincial and national level, and we emerged victorious over every other competing high schools in KZN. This granted us the honour of representing our high school in SINGAPORE in 2018, as supported by the Motspe Foundation. Furthermore, I participated in the KZN SALGA GAMES, which were developed for the u20 category for many years representing Umngungundlovu and Umzinyathi.

In 2020 I began to play KZN SUPER LEAGUE, representing HAMMARSDALE SUNBEAMS. Our team won and was subsequently promoted from B to A division, that where I won a certificate of being a best shooter. In 2023 I began University of Johannesburg as a STUDENT athlete playing for UJ Netball, that where I got a chance to play USSA for the first time and I was in the 2nd team.

Our team won gold medalist. In that same year, I also played Gauteng Netball league representing UJ Netball. Also participated in USSA netball in 2024 with the UJ 1st team where we won silver medal, that where I got the ward of being the most committed player and also played Varsity Netball Cup for the first time a huge platform for my growth as player and we won silver medalist.

This year 2025, I played USSA netball for UJ netball 2nd team and we finished 4th, also participated in Varsity cup and we finished 4th. Additionally, I have always had immense faith in myself and my abilities, and I am a firm believer that self - belief and hand work are key ingredients to achieving success, as Viraï Kohli put it, I strive to be a life long learner and am passionate about everything I do
