The purpose of GIA is to provide independent, objective assurance to the Nedbank Group Limited Board of Directors via the Group Audit Committee that the governance processes, management of risk and systems of internal control are adequate and effective to mitigate the risks (in line with GIA Internal Audit Methodology), both current and emerging, that threaten the achievement of the Group's strategy and key objectives, and in so doing help improve the internal control and risk culture of the Group.
- Execute audit assignment planning, fieldwork, and reporting in line with the Group Internal Audit (GIA) methodology and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
- Provide independent assurance to the Group Audit Committee that business is adequately mitigating key strategic and operational risks.
- Assess and understand business systems, processes, tools, methodologies, and templates, within audit scope and analyze and interrogate client processes, evidence, and verbal information independently.
- Identify and assess the design adequacy and operational effectiveness of controls within audit scope.
- Project management through managing the allocated billable hours in line with Audit plan and timelines to ensure deadlines committed to are met.
- Maintain stakeholder relationships through regular scheduled engagements and build sound professional relationships through addressing client concerns and ensure client centricity in audit engagements with stakeholders.
- Influence stakeholders to address inefficiencies in resolving audit findings through utilizing professional experience in demonstrating benefits of best audit practice and partner with them in providing regular audit progress updates and timeous reporting of key audit findings.
- Identify and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines in line with audit scope.
- Ensure continuous improvement of the quality of audits through providing professional insights and preparing quality, relevant and commercially astute reports.
- Deal with complex verbal and documented information and data in the audit process.
- Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives, and values.
- Function as a trusted business advisor through providing audit insights in line with audit methodology.
- Present and provide audit updates to Enterprise Risk Committees (Transactional Service and Markets), Trading Risk Committee, FRTB Steerco and Initial and Margin Variation Steerco.
