I’ve been working as a researcher at the University of Pretoria while completing my Master’s study. As part of my Master's research, I have been programming custom MAPs for cochlear implant users alongside audiologists for the past 3 years and recently presented my research at the 2022 SACIG conference in Cape Town. My study also includes provisions for remote patient care via a protocol and developed a mobile application which aims to endow patient-centred care to individuals outside of conventional clinical settings, thereby increasing access to care and decreasing health care delivery costs.
I selected a field of study that requires problem-solving and allows me to work with other disciplines and most importantly, patients. Working with people is very near and dear to my heart and I work well in team environments. I also have experience working with young children, school learners, and university students from lecturing, tutoring, and volunteering.
I am an adventurous person and I enjoy a challenge. I’m eager to learn and acquire new skills. I recently summited the highest mountain peak in South Africa, followed by a week-long rowing trip in Namibia on the Orange River, and wrapped up the year with a multi-day hike in the Tsitsikamma. I pride myself on being a happy and spirited individual. I often travel and I am willing to relocate.
(2020 – Present) - I am the founder and head tutor at Keerpunt Tutors which consists of a group of experienced post-graduate students who provide private, individual-centred tutoring for learners.
